 On two separate occasions Researchers and Investigators from The Massachusetts Paranormal Institute conducted lengthy  investigations at the Hyannis Public Library. A detailed accounting was written by Journalist Aaron Gouveia from the Cape Cod Times, who accompanied the investigation. His full article can be seen under the Home page subsection. Below is a partial listing and display of the results of the investigation.

A SONY stationary microphone was placed in the basement of the library at the beginning of the investigation ans was collected at the end. No one entered the basement area. You can hear the investigators muffled voices in the background resonating from upstairs while you can distinctly hear a female voice say;

" I'm glad you're in the room"..

Their is a stairway used as a bookcase where books are stood up and displayed.  it is a regular occurrence at the library for these books to fall and be found on the floor upon opening the library in the morning. During the investigations MPI were informed of the falling books and while in the the adjacent room the books actually fell from the staircase onto the floor. We heard it and wenr to the stairway where the question is asked " How many books fell" and an unseen entity resonds with;

"All did."

Ora Hinckley worked at the library from 1909 to 1943. She is warmly remembered and credited with being the first full-time librarian at the Hyannis Public Library. She loved the library and, besides her family, it was her whole life.

During an EVP session when an MPI Investigator questioned whether or not she got along with Dr. Harris, a Trustee of the Library at the time, Ora replied;

"No."
